Chrome will now warn you about shady websites.

What happened
Google is adding a new warning to Chrome. When a page looks like a scam, a shield icon appears next to the web address. Click it, and you can go back to safety. Clearly dangerous sites still get the big red warning screen.
Why it matters
To spot scams, Chrome will use Google’s Gemini AI to check what a page says and who it pretends to be. Google says those pages aren’t saved or used to train AI. Chrome will also warn you before you paste risky commands from fake fix-it pages.
OTN take
Our take: this is official, from Google, and it’s part of Chrome’s Enhanced Protection mode. To turn it on, open Chrome Settings, then Privacy and security, then Security. It’s free, and worth it.
